Flights to Afghanistan (2026): Airlines, Routes and Fares
Almost every trip to Afghanistan starts with a flight into Kabul, and the far-off cities are easier by air than by road. Here is who flies where in 2026, how long the flights take, what one-way fares have cost, and how we book and issue the tickets for you.
Kabul International Airport has direct flights from Dubai (flydubai, Kam Air, Ariana), Sharjah (Air Arabia), Istanbul (Turkish Airlines, Kam Air, Ariana), and Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh and Islamabad (mostly Kam Air). Inside Afghanistan, Kam Air and Ariana Afghan Airlines fly from Kabul to Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif and Kandahar in about an hour. Al Hamid Tour and Travel books and issues domestic and international tickets, with a tour or on their own.
How do you fly to Kabul?
Kabul has no direct flights from Western Europe, North America or East Asia, so most travellers connect in Dubai or Istanbul. Dubai has the most flights: flydubai alone flies there about twice a day. The two Afghan airlines, Kam Air and Ariana Afghan Airlines, also fly to the Gulf, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. You need your Afghan visa before you fly: airlines check it at check-in.

Can you fly to Bamyan, Faizabad and the rest of the country?
Bamyan has a small airport; ask us whether a flight is running on your dates. Most visitors drive, about 4 to 6 hours through the central highlands. Faizabad, the gateway to Badakhshan and the Wakhan, has had no flights on a fixed schedule since 2021, so we plan the road through Kunduz and Taloqan and book a flight only when one runs. Jalalabad, Panjshir, Ghazni and Nuristan are reached by road, and the Minaret of Jam in Ghor only by long 4x4 drives.
How do we book your flight tickets?
- Send us your route, dates, number of travellers and each traveller's full name as it is written in the passport, on WhatsApp or by email.
- We send you the fares and the options: airline, times and baggage.
- Once you confirm, we issue the tickets and send you the e-tickets.
- On a tour, your pick-up is timed to your flight, and if a domestic flight is moved or cancelled we rebook it or switch to the road.
What should you know before flying to Kabul?
- Get your visa before you fly. Afghanistan's e-Visa is applied for online; see our visa guide.
- Leave plenty of time at Kabul airport: there are several security checks before you reach the terminal.
- Keep a spare day between a domestic flight and your international flight home, in case the domestic one is moved.
- Fares change with the season and how early you book; the figures above are one-way fares seen in 2026, not a quote.
Flights are not included in our tour prices, but we book them with the tour or on their own. Send your dates on WhatsApp for a fare. See also getting around Afghanistan, the visa guide and our tour prices.
